Ha 2MAR$, you already know what I think about those analyst calls.
CIEN doesn't surprise me, a teenager now, but it ain't going to "0" I'll bet.
P/E's, guidance, and earnings: now there's a potential problem for investors, not traders, IMO.
Do earnings catch up with valuations??
Or do valuations still need to be corrected??
Doesn't matter to me at this point, I'm just trading, we go down enough - I buy, we go up enough - I short, because we won't go either straight up or straight down, IMO.

Bush is meeting behind closed doors discussing Social Security. Just think of the boost we will get if he declare social security to invest in the stock market. that could very well be a catalyst.

>> Do the chartists ever look at PE's and individual stories
and something called Guidance ? Earnings ? Continued revisions down ? VTSS and the "Glam" semis perfect examples of doing nothing but guiding lower and lower
and lower. <<

You've nailed it. Overcapacity and oversupply in plant, equipment, office space...and common stock. I'm reading people all weekend just aching to call a turn here, based on props and visual aids.

I just can't see anything but a few periodic burps and a continuing contraction until supply rebalances with demand.

Great post...puts the whole argument in its simplest terms.
