Jay:

You're a stand-up guy, no doubt about that. I am not going to try to respond to your post in kind.

>>I count myself as extremely bullish in the intermediate term, cautious in the short term and terrified in the longterm.<<

I have to query your long-term terror. It has always been a huge mistake to bet against the US economy long-term. The recent action in the major stock indices has obscured what is happening in the broad market, which is in a recovery. Cobalt Blue made an excellent post on this point several weeks ago. I do not claim any great investment genius - I took my Nasdaq lumps in 2000. However, at the end of 2000 I was amazed to find that my retirement accounts, which I manage conservatively, were up 30%. If you avoided tech, this result was not that hard to achieve.

Hi Jay, for those who are curious, you had mentioned a Bre-X post at the end ...

Edwin and Malcolm, I am curious at times and, gad, look what I found ... message 7289 on Bre-x thread ... the party for that stock fell apart around message 7370. So, let us not get into an argument and concentrate on our basket(s) of eggs. If I am right, I do not have to argue, and if I am wrong, I can not afford to argue.

Japanese giant chipmaker Fujitsu Ltd. will slash its worldwide workforce by 15,000, or nearly 10 percent, and close some overseas plants in response to the high-tech slump, a newspaper said on Sunday.
