Anyone you've heard in the popular press believing this thing actually continues into next year? I haven't heard one...

This is fairly pessimistic:

"...FWIW, people I've spoken to in the equities and bond communities in NYC say the mood is abysmally dysphoric. No one will admit to any bullishness, in fear of getting laughed at. Continued declines are seen as a matter of fact..."

This is from a post by someone on Gilder web site this morning. People are hurt, confused and upset. My personal take of it is, however, that the fear is like an ache in the stomach, but the bullishness is in the bones. It’s deeper. We are not any place close to a point when the equities are considered to be “gambling” and a “fool’s game”, like it was in the 70’s.
