We should at least decriminalize. Putting potheads in prison doesn't help them or society.

I'm one liberal who's against legalizing drugs. What are your thoughts about it?

I'm one conservative that is for legalizing drugs. But I am a libertarian conservative. On principle I don't think it is the government's business to not allow us to consume certain chemicals. I might let practicality override my principles in some circumstances but I think that practically the drug war has been a disaster. It has resulted cost a lot of money, allowed for greater infringements on our freedom and privacy in other areas besides drugs, resulted in a greater level of crime and violence, and it hasn't stemmed the flow of drugs.

Any drug any person wants to take it should be legal for them to take. The role of government should be limited to a) assuring that the choice whether to take a drug is informed, b) making sure that the drugs that are marketed are produced under sanitary conditions and are properly labeled (as is done now with food), c) prohibiting people, whether under the influence of drugs or not, from injuring other persons, by such things as driving drunk, etc. Oh, and prohibiting sale of certain drugs to minors, until they are old enough to make their own informed choices. As is done today with tobacco and alcohol.

What a person wants to do with their body, whether it be in the area of sex, drugs, or whatever, as long as they are harming no one else, is entirely up to them and is no business of the government's.
