You may choose to keep yours in government bonds, as may I. But they will be OUR bonds, and that alone is an improvement. IOU's written by a government to a fictional government account are themselves a fiction. They are vapor, and the lowest form of fraud against the taxpayers of the nation which allows such a fraud. Stealing productive taxpayer's money and promising to pay them back at a negative return decades hence is not investing in anything. And the worthless paper that memorializes that fraud is evidence of an increasingly illegitimate government that may, indeed, NOT be in a position to attempt repayment when the decades have passed. What you liberals don't understand is that-when the shit hits the fan on this Ponzi scheme-it will have NO supporters in Congress. No Daschleghephardt trying to squeeze one more propaganda bite. No "moderate" Republicans talking about "promise keeping". The Congresses of that decade will be a rather brutal bunch, confident in their mandate to punish those fools who voted for the pyramid for most of their lives. So you see, in the most likely scenario, today's world is far more kind and compassionate then tomorrow's world. And it would be nice if that compassion could be preserved, rather than see our children or grandchildren forced to correct and impoverish us. In that future you will have NO argument that any of them will want to hear. You will, in short, be considered too quaint to be trusted with any money. The key to the avoidance of that unhappy future is to achieve the complete and final defeat of outmoded socialism, and to do it in the current era. There have been too many societies that have failed in that mission already...
