Thanks Jim Woolly.

During the tech bubble, dollar was indeed strong and at that time it did not matter to U.S. based multinationals (high tech or non high tech) which are now asking for a weak dollar.

I have heard that U.S. based multinationals employ hedging to protect profits against currency fluctuations just like international mutual funds.
So does weak dollar really matter to big multinationals?

A weak dollar in that respect should help small and mid-size companies in old economy that are exporters to foreign markets.

So now we have main street asking for weak dollar and wall street asking for a strong dollar.
