I see where you are going with this. You're right. We can start off by agreeing that you're right. It is a battle, and it is a conspiracy. American Spirit is right. What you might be missing is that it's not a battle between Bush and Clinton/Al Gore. It's a battle between right and wrong. That's all. It is very complex, very structured, very choreographed, and very intense. Most people explain it in their own way, and then argue about the explanations with somebody that explains it differently. Here it is in a nutshell. We can use the Internet as an example. Let's say you have a 12 year-old daughter. She's very bright, and very clean. Pretend you are her. You are 12 years old. Back when your mom and dad were 12, or your grandpa was 12, things were not like they are now. Right now, in ten minutes, she can find ALL the references for a three page report on Australian marsupials. Or a science project to show what happens when spiders spin their webs in a zero-gravity environment. Or how Jonas Salk discovered polio. Or who Malcolm X was and why he is important. By pushing on a button four times in front of a little television set, which is way different from grandpa's TV. But there's something else. Right now, she can find hard core bestiality by clicking four times on a computer with one finger. Some mutant pus bucket can try to lure her over to his city for some Secret Game of some sort. And everything in between, in ten minutes, while mom and dad are not paying attention. Frank Zappa had no problem with that. He appeared before congress and talked about it. Nothing should be censored. Everything is Art. I can't think of a person who really defines the other extreme; censor everything that does not comply with The Big Scheme to Take Over the World. Nothing is Art. Most of the rest of us are just arguing about the Method. Do the ends justify the means? At what point do you break the law in order to make your point more clear? At what point does the living environment become unsafe for the production of your drawing that you want to sell to make some money? And what about the Other People? The Important to Me Personally People. You should think about them too. You're 12. You don't particularly care for ordinary television because you can't go 30 seconds without seeing a visual or verbal reference to a criminal act. In between that is ads for psychotropic drugs disguised as Adult Candy. Boring. The question that's being argued here is kinda like who is driving the Magic Bus that your 12 year-old daughter is riding on? And what's the deal that she's being driven around where you don't want her to drive around until she's a little older. Say 28 or 30. How about Eminem? Or maybe the Insane Clown Posse! Your mom says that your little brother who just started First Grade has been to the doctor and he is going to start taking some medicine so he won't act bad at school. Some other kid in school doesn't show up one day. Turns out he is dead. Some other kid at school has these pills that are cool, try one, first one is free. Some other kid in your class is high on drugs right now in the middle of Second Period. Stuff like that. And who is paying for all this stuff? Who is contributing to the energy flow, and who is sucking? What is the Limit on things that slow you down? An explosion downtown? A guy with a weapon that gets into trouble in front of your very eyes? How serious does it have to be? It really is the Valley of Death. Check it out. It's on right now. You're in the middle of it. Remember to pardon anyone that states an opinion that does not comply with your deal.
