Charles: But at 1.75V core voltage I wonder if there is any gain in that respect. Does anyone have power data handy on 900/950MHz Durons?

Yes, I have:

Duron, 1.6V
MHz Pmax Ptyp
600 27.4W 24.5W
650 29.4W 26.4W
700 31.4W 28.2W
750 33.4W 30.0W
800 35.4W 31.8W
850 37.4W 33.6W
900 39.5W 35.4W
950 41.5W 37.2W
It might be interesting to compare with Morgan...

Mobile Duron model 7 (Morgan):
MHz Vcc TDP
800 1.50V 24W
850 1.50V 24W
900 1.45V 24W
AFAIK, there is no info available on the non-Morgan mobile Durons. IIRC, they run at 1.5V, so scaling the "normal" Duron scores would probably give a good indication.

Using the same method of scaling, one can estimate what a 1.75V Morgan would consume. Comparing this with the old Durons gives 35W for a 900MHz "dekstop Morgan". This compares to 35.4W for the "old" 900MHz desktop Duron.

Not much of an improvement at all.
