Yeah, the old politicians are still the funniest. I just wish we could believe Jean when he said what he said that he said...if you know what I mean. He's been caught out before...remember when he said that he used to go down to the bars to talk to the common people but nobody there had ever seen him? <ggg>

I'd like to see a live debate between Bush (with his translator) and Chretien. We may even get to see a reenactment of the old "Chretien Clutch".

Speaking of self righteous politicos, I guess we won't have Jesse Helms to kick us around anymore, he's hobbled off into the sunset. Ah yes, who could ever forget Helms and Burton? What a comedy team they were. Remember the slapstick of the "Cuban Liberty and Democratic Solidarity Act"? It was right up there with the "Dead Parrot Sketch".

Here’s a short excerpt from the 1996 act that would punish Cuba and all of her international trading partners as a sort of a final solution:
“The policy of the United States is as follows:
(1) To support the self-determination of the Cuban people.
(2) To recognize that the self-determination of the Cuban people is a sovereign and national right of the citizens of Cuba which must be exercised free of interference by the government of any other country.
(3) To encourage the Cuban people to empower themselves with a government which reflects the self-determination of the Cuban people.”

That’s classic stuff....and it goes on and on...

Ah Jesse, we’re gonna miss ye. But, I see good ole Jesse has a Kiddie’s Corner on his homepage...and the beat goes on.

Happy Trails
Lenny

EDIT: Snowshoe, heavy duty find...illegal tax credits for hundreds of US exporters eh? My my...

"They don't like the term 'Crown land', it reminds them of their Boston Tea Party myth" ... paraphrased from comments on the radio yesterday by Charles Widman .... more than a bon mot this, imho - they have for over two hundreds years taught children under their control that all things righteous were invented when they started killing and robbing those who chose to remain loyal to the Crown, or who chose to remain catholic, or who chose to keep speaking spanish, or to do any number of activities irritating to the FO power base, like holding land and suchlike .... not much world view permitted, little things like the progress of the rights of man stemming back to english yeomanry which itself came from deep celtic and saxon and indian traditions get ignored ... no, it all started when they drove the surviving loyalists north, eh .... and here we are

Betcha none of this has yet hit the front pages south of the 49th

JC jammed out, btw, started talking about 'taking a file, and clearing that file' - translation = 'no linkage' ... which really means 'no guts' .... he's got a chance here to resurrect some vestige of his party in the west, with Ralphie Of The Oilpatch making whimpering noises when the subject of linkage comes up .... all things are connected - de hipbone's connected to de thighbone, de lumbarbone's connected to de fistbone
