Mark,

I think the mobile phone industry now is more like where the PC industry was when the processors running below 100 Mhz.

I tend to view the analogy at an even earlier point in time for the PC, 386/486 timeframe in chip architecture and maybe even back to DOS/Windows 3.x for the OS. Early!

Some of the problems with Korea as a showcase for 1x are:

- Very high penetration rate for broadband internet connections, the highest in the world I think.

- Koreans are not mass transit commuters like you find in Japan and Europe.

- I'm not aware of a big domestic software industry to quickly crank out apps, like I expect in the US.

I would think Japan or the US will provide the test for high-speed wireless data. KDDI remains a focal point.
