Well thanks for the exclamations:-)

The PMP's values come from religion, basically. They accept a set of absolute values that are handed down.

This is the part that I don't understand. Why does the origin of the values make a difference? I believe that my values are as absolute as the described PMPs. And I know many people who derive their values from religious beliefs who have similar values to mine (my wife being a prime example). The real discerning factor for me would be whether or not the values are consistently applied not how they are derived. The OP vs. PMP division doesn't seem to be a really good way to slice the pie, to me, based on those thoughts.

(and I know that you are trying to figure out where the grub is...)

The classification of good guys vs. bad guys is not mine. It's my rendering of the view of the faith-based, traditional values folks that inhabit this board.

Perhaps I should adopt the E approach and pigheadedly refuse to accept your "rendering" (an apt word indeed).

As you know Karen, I am not religious in the least. I have tried to find and have faith in a higher power but I have not been successful. I inherited a sense of values I observed and was taught by people I greatly respect and admire. It is my appreciation for the way I have seen those values operate and sustain those lives that I admire and wish to emulate that powers my owns sense of values and the one that defines the PMPs I described to you. There is no "cosmic" component. My own convictions can not be said to be derived in "faith" by which I take it you mean some religion. Are duty, honor, love of, and service to, country "traditional" values?? If so count me in. I am guilty of the practice of all these black arts...

Needless to say, I found your post most disappointing, indeed.

You and I decide for ourselves what our values should be. This is exactly what I have done, albeit, I have made my determination in the certainty that there are many things more important in this world than myself. And that is my "rendering" of the difference between OPs and PMPs...

You really don't understand, then. Being religious is not a necessary qualification for being a PM, as I describe things......
