The issue isn't whether people should have a right to PARTICIPATE in lotteries. The issue is whether people should have the right to RUN THEIR OWN lotteries. Obviously people want lotteries. Let private companies run them and let the government tax the profits like any other business.

If there is nothing wrong with gambling, and if, as the incessant happy advertising tells us, it is good wholesome fun, why is it evil if you have fun in MY lottery? If private companies ran the lotteries for profit they would be 100X better. For one thing, I KNOW the government would never let them get away with advertising 100 million dollar jackpots, then pay off 10 cents on the dollar and "Tax" away half of what's left.

AT LEAST governments should not be encouraging citizens gamble. Now they spend 100s of millions on the best and brightest advertising talent and airtime to entice people to participate. This is complete madness.
