Not sure I agree with the cause and effect of that statement. How many homes being built, or for that matter commercial buildings, have dual fuel capability? How many are dual fuel now? I claim the vast majority of homes and business have no choice. They are either HO with no NG line, or they have a NG line and no ability to burn HO.

Also note that the Northeast is converting to NG due to the Maritimes Northeast pipeline. They were putting in the major lines in Maine when I lived there a few years ago. This will actually support your assertion for a time.

Heating oil is to heating as buggy whips were to the transportation industry in the early 1900's. It will play a smaller role in heating every year.

edit: On reconsideration it occurs to me you are talking about homes heated electrically. I feel sorry for those folks, but your statement makes sense to me in that context.
