hi Maurice Winn,

Companies seeking cancer cures don't make profits for a decade. Internet companies need to develop - they are all new and there is always a lot of investment needed for new ideas and before profits are achieved

i agree that investment is needed to fuel new developments. unfortunately, because of the orgiastic spending of the last few years, we have the Gresham's Law phenomenon (where bad money drives out the good), so i expect we will have a contraction of capital availability to valid venture-level business plans (actually this was predicted in the book "The Coming Internet Depression", which was actually a fun read in spite of its sensationalistic title). this is bad for the economy and the world as a whole.

>>I am extremely disappointed that Globalstar didn't make profits. <<

Oh, ratlets, Mq. I've been biting my tongue for a while here, but I told everyone on the G* thread why G* wouldn't make it - this was last year, while Iridium was still in Chapter 11 and hadn't come back out. There is a demand for sat phones, but at this time only for regional (Indosat, Thuraya, ACeS Garuda, and so forth). For global sat phones, Inmarsat has a lock. It costs more, but it was first, and the people who want it already have the gear.

The future you envision isn't here yet. It's a beautiful future, but it's not gonna happen in the foreseeable future.

Kyros and LLCF will back me up - I warned about G*. I had higher hopes for Loral, but not if a Republican administration got elected - which it did. And I don't really mind Bernie getting what's coming, he deserves it.
