Thanks, Terry. When I consider that 30% of the workforce is paid less than $7 an hour, I wonder how parents are supposed to inculcate their values in their children when they are working all hours to keep a roof over their heads. Are "family values" compatible with very low wages?

terry, and who would you trust to be the final arbiter of "social costs?" would you be happy if that arbiter didn't value your line of work and cut your salary 20% while others received a 20% increase b/c their work was deemed more "valuable?"

it is quite easy and tempting to mess with everyone else's check book ;-)

i agree social costs are important, however, application appears to be a HUGE snag, imho.
