mr. mark:

Busy composing my last reply when your post arrived. I only posted here a couple of times, but read thousands of posts before that first time.

I understand the burnout and wanting to pass the torch and if no one else specifically picks it up as was suggested by someone, the thread will continue because of the contributions of all the great posters here.

Regarding the public reply to that post, since I am Johnny on the spot at the moment, I hope that you resolve whatever else through PM's, and if, as, and when the time is right you'll let us know that all is well.

Otherwise a public reply of thanks is more than warranted in my opinion and I am sure that posters and lurkers alike should be allowed to publicly thank you for all your work over the years and wish you good luck. And when you can, please visit as you'll always be welcome!

Regards

Bob

Two things I can think of.
1. Do you or have you used any "prefetch" type net accelerators If so, do a search on your computer for a file named host (not the one named host.sam). It should be in c:\windows. Rename it hostbak. This file is used by some programs to store static ip addresses for quicker retrieval. If the bigchart ip address has changed you can not go there til you get rid of the host file (it's pointing you to the wrong address). I think you can even edit the bad address out by opening the host file with notepad) Reboot and try going to bigcharts again. If this doesn't help just rename the host file back to it's original name.

2. If that doesn't work go to pcpitstop.com and run the tests. There's an activex troubleshooter there that may help you. Some of the bigchart stuff is done with activex controls. (I got a activex security warning of one of those links you posted on that other thread.)

Let us know
