Well, I was just curious about exactly how arrogant the tech junk bulls are. And now I know! Looks like the one-day bear-market rally has got them a little cocky. When this bear is done, they will be crawling on all fours. Sure looks like that time hasn't come yet.

Bob Brinker had said that this will take a long, long time to play out -- as late as end 2002. I didn't believe him at first. I thought a 60% decline in the Naz in one year ought to do the job. Looks like Brinker was right, though. There is a lot more money that has to be lost before it is all over. After all, he is the only one who was bullish all through the 1990's and then correctly called the top, asking people to get out of the market on Jan 14, 2000. Looks like he could be right about when the bear market will end -- slightly more than a year from now.

If I go back in history, the bulls displayed similar arrogance halfway through the devastating 1973-74 bear too. By the time the bear was done, however, most of the bulls had been castrated and cauterized. Those who survived carried scars of the mauling for the rest of their lives. This story will end the same way.
