Did Dan Niles downgrade AMD today ?
from the article at :
e-insite.net

For Intel, their update is on Sept. 6 which gives us two extra weeks to see if Intel’s forecast of a demand surge is more accurate than the PC vendors declining expectations," Niles noted. "We are lowering EPS for AMD from 35 cents to 25 cents for 2001 and from 80 cents to 40 cents for 2002."

---------------------------------------------------------

Talk about misprediction. AMD had about 2001 EPS of $2.00 around March. Even a $15 price for AMD stock gives a 2001 PE of 60. Intel estimate (per Yahoo) is 51c for 2001. Same (actually slightly lower) PE as AMD. AMD sure doesn't look too cheap compared to Intel anymore even after the recent big drop.
