Joan and Jay: The world has always moved -and sometimes even prospered- by mass movement of people. Peaceful or otherwise.

This is fact of mankind's life. And these colored blotches in maps a.k.a political borders, stamps in passports and other crap, are all laughable.

We will have mass migration and we will have re-colonization. It 's going to happen and it is going to have a political correct name.

The UK is exporting sick people to be treated in France and Germany. Waiting list is too long there.

The Indian doctor in Euronews was saying the docs and nurses don't want to go there. They don't like the way the are treated by the locals.

Come on! Australia is ridiculous. As a country it had some use for it as Cold War in the same level of Indonesia. But the Cold War is over. Today they have a lot to think about the next 50 years. And they don't have more Paul Keatings to tell them the true situation of the country.

Locals have to put up and shut up!

Asylum seekers end up getting killed in places like UK and Germany, relative to them Aussie population isn't bad. The question is how many immigrants to take each year relative to the existing population. It's very easy to immigrate to Australia and become an Australian citizen. Much easier than Canada or the US.

Jay,

One thing I learned when I was in Australia was that they have been spending a hug amount of money during the last 80 years cleaning up the mess that the Europeans left behind. The Europeans raped the continent when they were in control. For example the forests were cut down and caused changes in the environmental balance. I can see why they are skittish about rapidly expanding the population with immigrants.

One thing that is interesting from Jimmy Rogers write up is he wants to own property and live there. Now the country must have some value. <g>
