Baby boomers don't need to worry about their mortgage payments....remember? These people have most likely owned their homes a very long time and have them largely paid off. If they need money because they lose their jobs, they can sell their houses and cash out all that equity they've been building up over the years----hundreds of thousands of dollars in many cases. Not a bad savings account.
