Kids should not be entirely shielded from the Ms Hopelesses of the world, imho - they're going to have to deal with incompetence throughout life .... an analogy - i used to hang out with a vegetarian beansprouting whole earther who lived and promoted the granola freak cuisine and lifestyle [and still does], but in a practical way, avoiding that all too common trap of being a snooty purist, i heard more than once her say 'ah, but you need a greaseburger once a month to keep up your immunity'

Home schooling - then kids miss out on the social experience part of school ... which missing has pros to it of course, but it has cons as well ... greaseburger immunity thing applies here too ..... our kids will go to public school, they'll just do it in two countries minimum, two languages minimum [also french immersion for a third if at all possible, yes], and outside of school hours we'll do all we are able to make up for the schooling inhibiting their education

On tides and boats - ah yes, but as the greenback tide goes out, the stranded barbarous relic boat will appear to be floating higher .... maybe?
