There are still plenty of places here in the USA to go to for a warm sunny retirement. And the water is safe, the food is safe, the medical care is good, the cops and bureaucrats are (mostly) not corrupt...

That would also be so in the state of Botswana or Kenya, just as it is in the state of Florida, which is getting pretty crowded, or Arizona, where not everyone loves the desert. The only problem would be the long flight home to see the grandkids, but maybe the grandkids would see the opportunity and live in Africa, too. And the middle generation might get jobs at the space center built in Uganda because it's more suitable for launching shuttles than Florida with its crazy weather and pricey real estate. Or some multinational corporate headquarters chosen for its convenience to all the major population centers in Europe, Asia, and South America.

Your paradigm shift got stuck in second gear.
