Dipy,

And this is how I would summarize it:

Yes, in 1929 we started an 18 year secular bear market, followed by a 20 year bull market, followed by a 17 year secular bear market, and in 1982 we started a bull market.

Bear markets are a result of negative global and local economic, political and social forces. As far as I can tell - with the exception of George Bush being the president of the US - there are asbolutely no other negative forces in the world that can create a secular bear market.

Believe me Dipy, the world -- and the US - are evolving in the prosperity infrastructure that has been architected by the US after so many negative experiences of past (the early 30's, 70's, etc.).

I can not wait till next year at this time for you and I to point to these posts and see who was more accurate in his assumptions and understanding of the world! We may not have anything in common or on our side -- but time! And that - believe me - will pass by us in a blink of an eye!
