So tell me Dipy, what is it that you gain from a bear market besides satisfying your ego that bulls arrogance is finally destroyed?! Surely, you must gain something from a bear market besides a symbolic egotistic victory, dont you? On one hand you are saying that you are not shorting the market, and on the other hand it gives you such a great pleasure to see a long lasting bear market. Unless of course you have built a huge amount of cash that makes you feel superior to everyone else in an economically depressed environment. But then that goes back again to satisfying your ego that makes you feel superior in such a depressed environment - However I do not believe that is your only gain from a long secular bear market as you would like to see, or am I wrong in this assumption? You kind of remind me of the old grinch who stole Chrimstmas just so kids could not enjoy playing with each other! Now you are not related to him, are you?! :) As for tax cuts, It is absolutely idiotic to cut taxes and at the same time increase (or maintain) the spending (regalrdss of the economic environment being depressed or otherwise) - especially if such spendindgs include idiotic defense programs in an era of peace and prosperity. I agree that there should not be an obsession with building surpluses as long as such surpluses are used properly. Proper usage include lowering the nation's debt, making sure social security and medicare programs are properly funded, making sure our education system is of high quality, etc. (incidentally I am totally against social security and medicare and would gladly give up whatever the government has already taken from me if I am promised I do not have to pay a dime for social security or medicare going forward). As for Bush, up to now he was simply a joke (somtimes funny and sometimes not so funny - but nevertheless still a joke) - However he now has evolved into a black comedy.
