Pete, as usual you are resorting to contrived examples to prove your point. I doubt you have any code in front of you from popular applications, so I don't think you can prove that any of your examples can represent an actual occurrence. Needless to say, there are countless ways for me to rebuke your statements by stating similar ways that a Pentium 4 can beat an Athlon by a similarly long shot. But none of these will get me anywhere, since you as the tireless rebutter will always be there with counter-examples. All the while, you are ignoring the basis for the discussion, which was the effectiveness of SuperPI as a benchmark. Since SuperPI represents a rare, pathological code sequence for the Pentium 4 (through a long series of transcendental instructions), as well as the fact that the application could be rewritten to perform far better (by reducing these instructions), proves that Dan3 has no right to sport it as the world's only useful and accurate calculational benchmark. Plus, I'm getting tired of talking to you. Like the others, you wear me out. Like I said before, I'm sorry I took you off ignore, so back on you go.
