Thread, more details on McKinley released, including:

- 3MB of on-die cache for McKinley and 6MB for Madison
- 1.5x to 2x the performance of current Itanium
- 220 million transistors
- 400 MHz bus, 128 bits wide (compared to 266 MHz 64-bit bus for current Itanium)
- Increase in integer units from four to six and "instruction cores" from nine to eleven
- Faster clock speed than 800 MHz Itanium
- Deerfield processor (lower-power offshoot of McKinley and Madison) aimed at dense server market in 2003
