Being diversified isn't necessarily better. Being diversified does lower the risk as well as the reward, though. Big difference, IMO.

I don't think so. Intel is still focused on semiconductors but not just CPU which everyone is predicting a slow downward spiral in ASP and growth rate. And Intel's venture into e-business seems to be a complete failure, even the leader in that field(Exodus) is fighting hard to survive.

it is not like flash and cpu is not the intel's core business.

GVT is also right about diversification bit. It was a popular discussion in 80's about who should diversify. Should it be company or investor?
Most concluded that it should be investors choice and hence at investor should diversify. In reality (ideal case) it should not really matter as risk exposure is reflected in the price.
