Now that's what I call funny.
I am sure other people call it funny too.
I didn't mean to imply I was in any way unique.

Hi cosmic,

That is a hoot! I remember so well having the Desiderata in a poster on my college dorm wall. It was also very popular in 1970's wedding ceremonies (though I avoided it). My, how things have changed.

Or perhaps not.

. And reflect that whatever
misfortune may be your lot, it could only be worse in Milwaukee.

I noticed that no one jumped in to defend Milwaukee. I've never been there so I don't have an opinion on it. But the reference to Milwaukee got me where it counts, right in the taste buds, and I have to speak up for the place.

I took one of my rare trips outside the beltway to have lunch with a friend a couple of weeks ago and, after lunch, he suggested we try a frozen custard place. He and I have sampled frozen custard off an on in various parts of the country and both have a sentimental fondness for the stuff. This place was billed as serving genuine Milwaukee frozen custard.

Well, I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Maybe you had to have grown up at a particular time and place to appreciate frozen custard as he and I do. The texture and the subtlety of flavors of this latest find were amazing. The best I've ever had.

Of course, when I got home I immediately hit the Internet looking for other places in the area. What I discovered is that Google tilts heavily to Milwaukee. They're apparently famous for the stuff and still tout it.

So, I figure that Milwaukee can't be all bad.

And thanks for posting the Deteriorata. It was fun. I used to have a framed Desiderata on the wall of my office in the seventies and still have a fondness for it. As well as for frozen custard.
