But maybe it's politics and who has the most allies that have votes?snia.org Snippet of info.... What other Associations you are currently active with and in what capacity? FCIA Board Director. (This July I declined to seek a consecutive term with the newly elected FCIA board as FCIA Chair so that I can run for this board seat with SNIA to ensure appropriateness). My full-time job is to engage with industry associations, alliances, and initiatives. So I am in the position, with full support from my company and its resources, to pledge the necessary bandwidth to fully commit to meeting my obligations as an SNIA director. Should bandwidth become a challenge, I commit to SNIA as a priority. I ask the committee to rest assure that, unlike other experiences that we have all possibly had with board members that spread themselves so thin throughout the industry that they are unable to meet their commitments, I do not have other industry side activities such as running or starting-up multiple companies or setting on the board or councils of multiple corporations. My time will not be challenged by unforgiving entrepreneurial activities. I am keenly sensitive to the ethical and professional values that must be observed when sitting on multiple boards and I fully commit to representing the highest of these standards, never in any way compromising these values. Additionally, I will demonstrate that my involvement with other associations and initiatives will only help SNIA in its board endeavors. For instance, with STA SNIA has an opportunity to work with STA in terms of a Forum or something comparable. With serial ATA, there is an opportunity to proactively address associative marketing needs for this upcoming technology. This list goes on and there will be more than less of these opportunities over the next few years, giving SNIA an excellent opportunity to develop a model that works with these initiatives and alliances such that synergistic value is provided mutually for SNIA, the manufacture, integrator, and the user. I don't know how many seats are up, a lot of folks want them also, some interesting names on the list AT&T, DELL, INTC.
