And that would be bad for QCOM.. Picking up a couple of LA TDMA operators in exchange for the loss of worldwide WCDMA upgrades is not a pleasant thought when it comes to royalties, ASIC sales, etc.

And firms who keep the GSM/GPRS networks operating on existing frequecies 900,1800, (Which I thought that was the plan anyway). Might decide that GSM/GPRS on 3G spectrum is the most cost effective route for their business operations.. Then it is a "massive net loss" in royalties for Qualcomm.
