It's such fun to give animals real names, not just the Rex and Rover sort, but . . .

My cat when I was growing up was a huge thing, yellow stripe on the top and white beneath. She was called Butterscotch Sundae with Vanilla Ice Cream. Butterscotch for short.

One of our current cats is a ragdoll, very sedate and ladylike looking, mostly white, with a light beige band over her shoulders. Her full name is Lady Emily Brindle of Stillpoint. (Stillpoint is the name of our house, after the Eliot poem.) She suits the Lady Emily name perfectly.

We got a beagle a few years ago...the name ended up being Penny, but one of the contenders was Bailey...Beagle Bailey...
