It's a George Carlin joke - I hate people who say "you want your cake and eat it" and "can I ask you a question? and so forth. The saying really makes no sense. As for wanting the cake and eating it, what about Bush-Cheney losing the popular vote (and probably the election if there were recounts) then insisting they had a mandate to push through some of the most unpopular programs we've seen in decades? And to represent our country to the world as if these are the things the majority of us want? And for pishing on us the worst anti-environmental energy policy in history then posing as an outdoorsman again and again? Or saying he has compassion then slashing the safety net? Or saying he's for working Americans then giving half the tax cut to the rich who don't need it? Or saying he's for patients rights then slashing Medicaid rights and kowtowing to the HMO's? etc. etc. etc.
