There are more investors, you are right. But these things are cyclical. It's really tough to compare. A lot of the excess was driven by the flock of online investors, making tons of money until the bubble burst. Many of these will go back to mutual funds with what they have left.

Schwab says trading is off by 50%.

My take is that a sanity is coming back. There will be another bull market. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

As for NT, I've been looking for a place to get in all the way down from 40. Wish I had shorted but I was still enamored with the ole "can't go down much more" school of thought.

Now as I look at it and projections, falling daily, for future growth and earnings, it looks to me like the excesses of management will take more time to sop up. By traditional measures of value, it's hard to justify more than $2-4 as a price. The only positive thoughts I can come up with are that it is less overvalued, and in better financial shape than others, e.g. LU.

I'm open for counter arguments.

These "newcomers" will be knocked out of the market and will be scared to return.

There wont be as much spare cash around by the end of the coming recession. The bubble has burst.

This is just my opinion of course and I'm not clairvoyant but the same thing happen in the 1929 crash.

All the internet and technology jobs which are being lost wont come back maybe ever. This equals lots people with useless skills. Try getting a job in this sector now, two years ago they couldnt find enough people.

This chart tells the story IMO. a fw more years of down and about 10 years of sideways.

Buy some high yeilding stocks with a history of dividend payouts because it will be the way to make money in this bear.
