"Unknown database error" sounds like something went wrong on their end. Try registering later. If that doesn't work I'd just uninstall it and reinstall and try again. I haven't used ICQ in a long time and no longer have it on my computer.

Are you using Mac or Windows?
If you choose the wrong download it will not work. I suggest a full uninstall. Once done let me know your OS and I will link the download page here.

I have been using ICQ since 1995 or 6 and have been thru all of the changes and update flaws.

Send me a PM if you would rather and I can link you to a personal live chat page and help you with selecting the correct choices as you install it or uninstall it.

If you do un-install your current ICQ program and are not using a sweep program to rid ALL references just make sure that you run; Start/find files/Named IQC/My Computer .....and delete any ICQ files that you find.

If you are running a cookie filter during new install, turn it off until installation is complete. Firewall running should not make a difference.
