Whoa. You're getting out of one complexity by stepping into another. Indifference can have positive or negative connotations depending on context. When one tolerates differences, one rises above one's distaste. When one is indifferent, it could be that one doesn't recognize a difference. It's better to be indifferent to membership in a minority group, for example, than to be tolerant of the difference. Unless indifference implies insensitive, of course.
