You seem to confuse the buying and selling of stock with the economy. The A/D line can decline for any number of reasons. When really big tech stocks were in their manic up-phase, investors piled into them like they were headed for mars (guided by "analysts" that might as well have been living on mars) and they withdrew money from other stocks. The momentum behind this move was as massive as it was manic. So what? This has nothing to do with the economy.
