just to clarify, the oil shocks didn't cause the inflation per se, but were one result of it.

the bull suckers tend to ignore facts such as single digit pe's, stocks trading below book value, the dow trading at around 80 inflation adjusted (only twice the depression low 50 years later), etc. stocks were truly cheap back in 1982 and a whole host of factors lined up to cause a bull market. none of that is the case today, yet some fools try to equate a rough time in the markets these days to some kind of similar sentiment bottom like in 1982.

fools and their money are soon to part ways...
