What you seem to be calling bigotry is my adherence to the principle of separation of church and state, established by the founders of this nation. I don't think it's a good thing for a government to become the expression of a single dominant religious sect. If you think that amounts to opposing anyone's right to practice their beliefs then I suppose that makes the founders bigots as well.

I don't know why you address the military service issue, since I never did. BTW,the haredim are not simply yeshiva students who spend their time with their noses in the torah. They are a very active and vocal political force with decidedly extreme right views about the land, who has a right to it, who should control Jerusalem, what should be done about Palestinians, etc. And as I said before, they presume the right to dictate who is or is not Jewish. I suppose the fact that hundreds of American rabbis have publicly repudiated some of these positions makes them bigots as well?
