Perhaps. Weak hands need to be scared out now that the economy is turning so the smart money can get back in cheap. There really seemed to be a concerted effort by the analysts today to do just that. It didn't seem to be working until late in the afternoon.

The most surprising thing today was how far HWP and CPQ fell. Thought 19.80 was a good entry price for HWP but no such luck. Can't really complain about getting it at a 6 year low.

Metal Trader,

<<hmmm...does anyone else smell hope burning?>>

I must admit that I felt totally bummed about today's late tanking - I saw a 5% swing in my port. I've decided to just doggedly hang in there with my tech holdings. I had been trying to prance and dance in and out, but it took lots of effort with marginal results.

The ARMS Index has seven days remaining in which to produce a bottom. Given the media attention this indicator has been getting, I would not be surprised if it were being manipulated or played by the hedge fund gang. Assuming there are others like me out there who have gone long based on this indicator, I could see a final washout occurring, say a day or two after the 20 day threshold has expired. People will conclude that the indicator "did not work" this time and bail out in droves, completely ignoring the fundamental basis of the ARMS indicator.

MetalTrader, RE: <<does anyone else smell hope burning?>>

I'm thinking that is the smell of short hair starting to singe as the shorts dance to close to the fire. Either that or I'm on fire and it hasn't burned through my cloak of confidence yet. Ask me again at the end of the week. Ed

PS Telemarker, nice to hear from you again. I look forward to your assessment of the macro picture when you have one and want to share it.
