Dan the man who lives in Denial Land, Re: "P4 is total fraud, and so are Intel's crooked benchmarks."

Tell that to Kyle over at HardOCP (or any of the dozens of reviewers that had praises to say for Intel's 2.0GHz Pentium 4).

hardocp.com

"Now that we are outside the box, let's really look at what the benchmarks showed us overall. The Pentium4 won some, the Palomino won some. In our everyday usage we would find it hard to say that one or the other is the winner. It is certain though that the S478 Pentium4 2GHz is no slouch when it comes to performance and can certainly be a CPU that many would be proud to have in their box."

"If you have applications that you will be using time and time again for either work or play, you need to take the time to research that specific application and find out what is right for you. Overall though, the Pentium4 at 2GHz is nobody's fool and should not be taken lightly by the competition. The Pentium4 line of CPUs will only become more and more of a menace to AMD as the SSE2 instruction code is taken advantage of by software makers. Don't kid yourself and think it won't be. These things just take time."

"To sum it up, Intel's 2GHz Pentium4 in a S478 package is truly a groundbreaking product in more ways than one. This CPU is going to allow Intel back into the mainstream enthusiasts workshop as the GHz ramp up and the prices ramp down. It may not be a DIYers solution this very day, but scratching it off the list for your next upgrade or box building project is not a good idea. The guys at Intel are smart folks, even though over the last year they have lost many fans. They are going to use those smarts to try to win some of you guys back, and the 2GHz S478 Pentium4 is simply the first step in that direction"

I'll see how long it takes before you come up with one of your vintage response to all this, but it'll only be the same old tune. Jerry sings that tune all day, and convinces himself that Pentium 4 is every bit a "Dud", though he can't understand why his company needs to lower their prices to the point where they are losing money, just to get demand to meet their production. Dan, you convince yourself the same thing, and you try and argue your point on this thread every time. Sorry, but the rest of the industry sees the writing on the wall, while you're stuck in your own fantasy.

Why is Athlon some much faster in Linux?...isn't the P4 maximized for Linux? Is the Athlon optimized for Linux?
