Both the utility bill and the condo fee are for services you sign up for. Taxes are not.

The condo fee is just like a tax. My condo fee pays for services I don't want or need. Now, the pool, which I use, and the tennis courts, which I don't, were there when I bought my place, but the playground wasn't. The association voted to pay for a playground, which I don't use, after I moved in. They nearly put it right under my side window, but I dodged that bullet. They upped my "tax" to pay for it. Then they got the community registered as a National Historical Site, and I didn't even get a vote on that. There's something that reduces one's freedom. No changing the exterior paint colors. No Direct TV.

It's just the same thing. We pay Federal taxes for national parks, which are common areas used for playground or that require landscaping. We pay Federal taxes to have waterways dredged for pleasure boats. I don't have a boat. Even if I did, I don't think it's Uncle Sam's place to dredge out my marina. It's just the same thing. It's not a utility bill. Utility bills are based on usage.
