I agree with much of what you are saying. They have changed the components on the Dow so many times that I don't know that a long range chart has any bearing on reality. With that said though in my opinion the chart looks ripe for a continued fall.

As to trading sideways that could very well happen. A range bound market wouldn't be all bad, much more tradable than what we have been dealing with if attempting to go long of late.

With the record number of bankruptcy's announced this morning I truly wonder if we can limp through this thing without a full blown recession. Time will tell but the consumer spending is the only thing holding us up at this point and that may go away.

I have people laid off for the first time in 8 years. The union has people on the bench for the first time in the same time frame. It's not looking real rosy right now from where I sit.
