Watch transporation and tech lead us back from the abyss. United i believe had similar slightly better results as well. Airline stocks are firming. Will tech stop the decline in the face of all this mixed news??????

Northwest says August load factor up slightly
ST PAUL, Minn., Sept 6 (Reuters) - Northwest Airlines (NasdaqNM:NWAC - news) said on Thursday that its system-wide August load factor rose slightly from a year earlier.

Northwest, the fourth largest U.S. airline, said its load factor, a measure of use of aircraft capacity, was 80.6 percent up from 80.5 percent a year earlier.

The airline reported traffic decreased 0.6 percent and capacity fell 0.7 percent compared to a year earlier.

Northwest shares gained 4 cents to $20.14 during afternoon trading on the Nasdaq.
