And while I am having a tantrum I will point out one other belief I have. We will never fix anything about this country as long as these peckerheads continue to fear nothing except not being re-elected.

I believe I have heard that JFK actually plagiarized this but I truly think it is something that all including politicians should ask, perhaps especially politicians, " Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what can you do for your country." Something to that effect anyhow, but something that would truly make someone great in my book. Probably wouldn't make good press though.

Jeff,
I know that. I am no more a republican than I am a democrat. I understood all of that going into it, but I get really pissed off when they try to feed such blatant BULLSHIT to us, without even the slightest hint of shame.

The people who are least qualified to govern, from an ethical standpoint, are the people who *want* the power that governing brings.

Please Jeff.

Your unbridled cynicism is shattering Jorj's youthful idealism. We are seeing a man's hopes, aspirations, and faith in humanity crumble bit by bit before our eyes. It is such a sad thing to watch.

Please allow me to offer an alternative explanation:

Ms. Boxer, ummmm, cares deeply for the future of our great country. Yes, deeply indeed. So deeply that she would do what she does for free, though certainly we don't expect that of her, now do we? Mr. Gore, Mr. Bush, and all the others......they are clearly motivated not by a thirst for power but by the ideals they learned when studying about Jorj Washington and Abraham Lincoln and all those fine doods from the past in their grade school civics classes.

So when Ms. Boxer sees that we all might have to downsize our color TV's and, horrors!, actually eat dinner at home instead of going out or ordering some Chinese carryout on the way home, it concerns her deeply, as it does each and every one of us. It makes her worry for the very foundation of our Democrat-cy that growth is only 0.2 percent instead of 4.5 percent or whatever it was during the Great Clinton Years. Because letting us all have more and keep more of our hard earned money is a core principle that all Democrats live and breathe by.

So let us all take a pledge that cynicism and sarcasm will not be tolerated as we comment on the ideas and behavior of the fine public servants who populate the political arena.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program.
