John

I don't use ME but it's probably the same process.

Go to control panel, system properties, device manager, modem, and highlight your modem and click remove. Restart ME and let the new hardware found program reinstall it for you. You will be prompted through the install. You may need your modem driver cd if ME doesn't install the proper one. I won't be around the rest of today but I'm sure there will be plenty of help available if you run into problems.

John, in addition to what thecow suggests you can physically remove the modem card and make sure the software is deleted, too. Then, after powering down, reinstall the modem card and power up.

I did this once and Win98 detected the 'new' hardware and installed a driver as well.
