Device manager does not see a modem so I guess my question still stands:

"Had problems with Windows ME. Files were corrupted to the point that I was advised to re-format the
hard drive. I was able to do that and reinstall Windows ME. Now another problem! The newly installed
ME (modem installation wizard) is not able to detect my modem. It was working prior to the
re-format. I checked for loose connections and could not find any. Is there any way to check to see if
my modem (hardware) is still OK. Or is there another problem?"
