wanna: <"If the hardcore AMD investors feel threatened by a few witty remarks, then they should make use of the ignore feature, as you have suggested, and not take the first opportunity to be a jerk, and petition the moderator to take unnecessary action.">

Elmer: <"I agree. Ignore is the way to go. I must admit, Mani has been fairly reasonable in his administration but ignoring is far easier. I only have 3 people on ignore.">

I agree in some ways. However, IMHO the potential for being banned helps clean up at least some posters' acts enough that I can actually see their opinion rather than just sending them to my ignore list. I think that anyone who thinks the ban capability of this thread exists to oppress opinions has it completely backwards. Without banning, some would be so crude/rude/uncivilized that I would immediately ignore them, missing out on their opinion entirely. Its not perfect, but it is a good attempt at a civilized open forum.

I personally am glad you guys are posting over here.

And I don't think anyone needs to worry about any opportunistic 'jerks' turning someone in who is polite and informative.

re: ignore, I currently have 10 people on ignore (for various reasons: rude, repetitive, whatever), but only a few of those are regular posters here (about 50:50 droid/bee).

FWIW,

JJ
