We feel TDMA is a better technology because it enables us to serve more customers in more states, but not to the extent that the load worsens the system or voice quality. Technologically, some might think that CDMA would be the better choice because you can have many conversations per channel instead of just three. This is only better for the wireless provider because it does not limit the number of customers they can have on service without having to expand the system. However, the more conversations you have per channel, the worse the voice quality may become. Customers may experience more dropped calls. TDMA enables a carrier to provide more extensive coverage in the United States, because TDMA is the choice of the North American Cellular Network (NACN). Customers whose carrier chooses CDMA technology have less roaming options in the United States (fewer cities and states where you can roam with your phone).<<ecare.attws.com I don't have a cell phone myself. Have been thinking about getting one. People I know who tend to travel a lot within the US prefer AT&T and recommend it. Two guys I know who like to go hunting and fishing say "don't bother with anything else." People who spend a lot of time in cities use one of the other ones, but none of them recommends what they have. Nobody recommends VoiceStream, not even the salespeople. Great quality, terrible coverage. I don't know anyone who uses Globalstar. Maybe if Globalstar was as cheap as AT&T, people would use it, who knows? But it's not. Just got a promotional mailing from AT&T - try their service for a month to see if I like it, and I can cancel if I don't. And they'll give me a free phone, a Nokia 5165 - if I sign up I can keep it, otherwise send it back, no charge. So I am going to try AT&T.
