To: Original Mad Dog who wrote (14 ) 9/9/2001 3:34:19 PM From: lorne Respond to of 115 It appears that you like to create something to argue about let me explain. My comment " we are all ruled by Bankers, corporations, Gov's. and in the case of the cancer society it also is very big business." Your reply. " Well, if you don't want to be "ruled" by them, then give up what they provide. Stop driving, stop taking medicine, stop going to the grocery store " etc. Now how in the world did you come up with the notion that I don't want to be ruled by the present world rulers, things could much worse without them. I was trying to present an opinion as to why protesters may be protesting. :-) Your comment " Labelling business as bad because it is big has a neat little appeal to it, but it ignores how much better life is in so many ways due to what those businesses have provided. And reciting that mantra, "big business is bad", is what leaves the general public (and, I suspect, the protestors themselves) without a clue as to what the protestors believe should be changed. They start saying things like they are against "globalization" and "trade", instead of articulating some coherent set of objectives. Don't know where you came up with the term " big business is bad " but so far you are the first on this new thread to say that. This is my third post on this thread and not in any of them did allude to or say anything like that so not sure if you were referring to something you think I said. I am retired with a good pension from a big business thanks to our capitalist system and when I get sick I will be thankful for our medical systems. So again I say to you that I was only trying to offer my opinion as to what the protestors may be protesting about and so far you seem to be labeling them as totally wrong without offering any reason as to why they are protesting. You a banker or Gov. :-) Take care lorne
