Tim - You wrote But then the inner city welfare breeders will squawk that their "entitlements" are being cut.
I heard on the news this morning that a San Francisco court is granting the rights for convicted (life) prisoners to "reproduce" by artificial insemination.
You can now add another group to your breeder list.

RE:"According to this morning's news, the talk is of a cut from 20% to 15% BUT ONLY FOR TWO YEARS!!"

Maybe they figured that most lost will be taken in the next 2 years and in order to reduce the amount of deduction against previous years gain they reduce the taxable portion of those loss. Kind of ATM scam except that it will affect almost every investors, not only corporate insiders having option plan.

Gottfried (the other one)

PS: It's also an insentive to dump your Intel stock you have since so many years..... might not help the stock.

Tim,
RE:"The solution is to eliminate the capital gains tax completely.
But then the inner city welfare breeders will squawk that their "entitlements" are being cut."

Funny how none of the Dems complained about the complete elimination of cap gains on the sale of a house...which is now fueling a runaway housing market...and further putting out of reach a home for a first time home buyer...
The biggest giveaway I can ever remember.

After we see the deficit next year, I seriously doubt we will see a tax cut...maybe some hikes...
